It is my pleasure to announce Starcraft Utah's 1st Official BYOC Tournament! We here at Starcraft Utah want to provide you with the quality of tournaments you all deserve.
EDIT: GeekBox Computers has confirmed that they will be giving away some swag at the tournament (items yet to be determined). Add them as your friend through facebook and be sure to check their website out! THANKS again to GeekBox Computers!
EDIT: GEEX has confirmed that they will be giving an additional $150 towards the prize pool as well as providing t-shirts for giveaways. A HUGE thanks to GEEX for their generous contribution and feel free to support them by visiting their website and checking out their facebook page. Thank you GEEX!
I really wish I could express just how important this tournament is for sponsorship. The guys over at GeekBox Computers have been really good about working with us and helping us to get great prizes. They just need to know how many people are expected to attend this event. If we present a good showing (at least 50 people), I really think GeekBox Computers will help us out. They have good connections with companies such as NVIDIA and Razer. So please, go SIGN UP HERE so we can give our sponsors a list of people in attendance. Again, I can't express the importance of this tournament as it will set the bar for prizes and sponsorship for future tournaments.
What: 1v1 Double Elimination BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) Tournament
Where: Neumont University, 10701 South River Front Parkway, 2nd Floor South Jordan, UT
When: Saturday May 7, 2011. Registration starts at 12:00 p.m., Tournament starts at 1:00 p.m.

A special THANKS to GeekBox Computers for helping us out so much. Also, we are hoping to get some giveaway items from GEEX as well.
So please, sign up as soon as you can. This is somewhat short notice (2 weeks), but with good attendance and the quality of games previously provided in other tournaments, I have hopes that this will spark the interest of sponsors.
Updated ad: GeekBox now officially sponsoring this tournament! Keep spreading the word...thx guys!
ReplyDeleteFML... work every saturday =(
ReplyDeletestop by when you have a chance. playing is good but your support is even more essential
ReplyDeletei'm only going to support the sc2 utah community because i know that one of the GM/Master Terrans will rofl-stomp everyone else :P unless Amandil is there :P
ReplyDeleteHah! Don't forget about my Protoss homeboy Perfect...C'mon Protoss!
ReplyDeleteWe might bring out some of our new, unreleased gaming computers for everyone to check out. We can't wait to see you all there :) We are working on some freebies to give away to random people. We will provide more information for 1st/2nd place prizes soon!
ReplyDeleteHaha Amandil and Perfect better show up otherwise there would be no challenges for stack terrans bracket ;)
ReplyDeleteI work every Saturday, but I requested May 7th off for the big Wasatch Poker Tour Quarterly Tournament on that day. Doh! :P www.wasatchpokertour.com
ReplyDeleteOnly like 15 people are signed up... :( Keep spreading the word guys. Even if you're not great at SC2 you can still win stuff in our giveaways. Sign up!!!
ReplyDeleteI suck, hard. 23 league wins!!!! WOOT WOOT! I like watching games and playing with other crappy players. All this cheese in the Bronze-Gold leagues (diamonds losing so they can stomp noobs, profile pic auto losing etc....) It really takes away from the "battle net" promise of being matched with people around your skill level. I might show up to watch.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely gunna be there i just mapped it because i have never heard of the college and it is literally less than 5 minutes away from my house!! See you there
ReplyDeleteThe map pool has been determined. All the Blizzard ladder maps EXCEPT Delta Quadrant are all viable and can be seen in any of the rounds.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty bad, but it sounds like a nice way to spend the Saturday after finals week. Signing up now.
ReplyDeleteSo do you need to bring monitor as well then? I would come, but my monitor is a 32" telivision and tower is huge so I don't really want to have to try and haul all that stuff down there. To bad its a BOYC, cuz I want sponsors to see this is something people are interested in.
ReplyDeleteI just found this by accident through facebook. I'm not sure if you're already doing this, but promote on teamliquid.net. Also if you don't already I can help with casting I'm a streamer/caster for gosugamers.net
ReplyDelete@Zergman: Yeah, we've got a caster lined up but it's ultimately up to him for a co-caster. I'll send him a message and see if he'd be interested in a co-caster. We've announced this on most every site I can think of that is related to SC2. Unfortunately this will be a BYOC AND Monitor. Neumont doesn't have any computers but have been nice enough to offer their services to us. Hope to see you there!
ReplyDeleteIf I'm not able to make it what is the link for the stream you will be casting this on?
ReplyDeleteI will see if I can bring an extra monitor or something incase somebody needs to borrow it.
ReplyDelete@Zergman
ReplyDeleteWe will be streaming live at justin.tv/tear388
it will be on teamliquid as well and should be under our event.
ReplyDelete- Tear ;)
I woulda played if i was back in utah :)
ReplyDeleteGo utah terrans ! :D
guys!!!! plz broadcast the semis and the finals
ReplyDeleteI'm making a note here, 'Huge Success!'
ReplyDeleteSonde here, but I'm writing this as Anonymous because I'm dead tired and because my great day ended with a terrible finish. Upon returning to my house and getting my computer set back up, I slipped setting the monitor down on the table, tipped over a glass of orange juice, and watched as it instantly ran off the table and right into the top vent holes of my computer.
ReplyDeleteI rushed to get the computer open and aired out, but it was too late. It's completely fried:( I actually have quite a nice setup, and its new... so this was a costly glass of orange juice.
I'm a little bit struggling on the finance sides of things, but hopefully it won't be too long before I can get another computer.
But on a happy note...
I had an absolute blast at the Neumont event, and I want to thank all the sponsors, Nuemont and everyone of you guys individually. It wouldn't have happened without you guys, so I can't thank you enough.
As far as how things went, I think it can be marked as a success for the first event for StarcraftUtah. I think I can speak on behalf of both Tear and Ignite when I say that running that event definitely gave us some clear ideas for improvement for our second time around. I think things are definitely heading in the right direction, and I can't wait to see what the future holds.
Also.. I will be doing everything I can to make sure StarcraftUtah succeeds, and I'm positive it will. I will be working my ass off to make sure things only get better, and I can only hope that you guys come along for the journey.
We have a special scene here in Utah, its full of ridiculously awesome guys, and I want to make sure Utah has the best scene we can.
Sincerely
-Sonde (Caster at Neumont event)
I got to say I thought the event was amazing... I will definitely be going to the next one. That sucks about your computer sonde! :(
ReplyDeleteGreat tournament. Neumont is an excellent venue to host Starcraft events. Good job everyone that put it together, I had a ton of fun!
